GARFIELD HUNTER WOOD

June 28, 1939 – May 15, 2011
In loving memory of Gar Wood, a resident of Gore Bay, who died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Mindemoya, on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the age of 71 years. He was born at Owen Sound, son of the late Alvin Hunter (Chief Kijiassigi) and Margeret Gordon (Hills) Wood. Gar was a “Jack of all trades”, working at many jobs over the years, recently at Steele’s Home Hardware. He had a great sense of humour, enjoying jokes, telling jokes and his humour was obvious when, at the Hardware, wore his nametag with “Nobody” on it. Gar drove school bus for many years, enjoyed golfing, and was proud to say he had a “hole in one” at the golf course. He also enjoyed watching the deer and had a passion for airplanes and flying. Gar will be sadly missed by his canine buddy Digby who accompanied Gar just about every place he went. Loving brother of Gordon of London. Also survived by a number of cousins. Cremation will take place with burial of ashes at Kagawong Cedars Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Gar’s life will be held at the Park Centre in Kagawong, at a date to be announced later. If so desired, donations (by cheque only) to the Animal Welfare Fund, the Mindemoya Hospital Auxiliary or the Kagawong Cedars Cemetery would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca. Culgin Funeral Home, 705-282-2270.
