WILLARD ORION NOLAND


1941 – 2014

Willard Orion Noland, 73, of Indian Harbour Lake, Nova Scotia, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at home. Born on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, he was a son of the late George Edward and Nellie Eveleen (Witty) Noland. Willard was a professional teacher who taught carpentry for a number of years at Cambrian College. He used to have his students assist him in building new homes, which enabled them to gain lots of first-hand experience and expertise. He owned his own explosives business on Manitoulin Island. Willard was a full-time beef farmer while performing many of his other duties and responsibilities. He loved hunting, spending time in the bush cutting wood, spending time with family and friends, reminiscing of the old days, and loved a good joke and playing cards. Willard is survived by his wife Donna Marie, sons Tim (Deneen), George (Sue), daughters Jean (Carl), Nicole (Bruce), grandchildren Samantha, Bradley, Dawn, George Jr., Jamie, Arthur, Jeannie, Cathy, Christopher and Cindy, many great-grandchildren, sister, Doris Middaugh, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Freddie Noland and sister Marjorie Veaudry. In keeping with Willard’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial reception will be held on September 6, 2014 at the Burpee-Mills Complex from 1 pm to 4 pm.
