“A penny saved is a government oversight”
To the Expositor:
I often use the quote: “A penny saved is a government oversight.” Nothing validates that statement more than a recent article attributed to the Fraser Institute. (The Fraser Institute is a recognized and independent non-partisan research and educational organization, think tank, based in Canada.) This organization is often quoted by major media.
Here is a comment coined to the Fraser Institute last week: “The average Canadian family spends more on taxes than on food, shelter and clothing combined.” Who spends our tax money? Who do we see abusing our tax money in the media up to and including criminal activity?
Let me guess, your first thought will be, ‘No, I am not surprised.’ You should be disgusted!
While the first question asked of me will be, ‘What choice do we have?’ Excellent question, the answer will be, ‘not much,’ and I agree. In response to ongoing bad management what we can do is make a wholesale change of governments in our system on Election Day. While not a guarantee of the return of responsible and ethical government, it will give the losers four years to work on convincing us we should return them and as well four years for the elected incumbent to convince us they should stay. No movement? Let’s try another party. I have no better suggestions as even ethics committees are not changing anything.
Elections are upon us shortly. Who is currently registered as a candidate? Who is a Johnny-come-lately and yet to register, not wanting to be accountable until the last moment?
I support the old cry! Make sure you vote. Bad persons get elected by those who do not vote!
