ESPANOLA—The Espanola Rivermen of the new Canadian International Hockey League, a tier-two junior A organization under the direction of the United Hockey Union and sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union, is pleased to announce the signing of a new player from Manitoulin for the 2014-2015 season.
Sixteen-year-old Carter Noble of Gore Bay will skate with the Rivermen this coming year. The 5’9” 162 pound forward spent the past four seasons playing for the Manitoulin Panthers rep program. The final year with the Panthers, Carter played on the major midget team, chipping in 12 goals and adding 24 assists. “I work hard, and I always fight for the puck and bring an attitude that helps me to contribute to my team. I am a team player both on and off the ice and I am looking forward to a bright future with the Espanola Rivermen,” Carter said.
The young forward said that making the Rivermen team has been his proudest hockey accomplishment to date, and adds that he hopes playing with the CIHL Hockey team can help him someday earn a hockey scholarship.
“We are very happy to have Carter Noble join our hockey club this season,” said Rivermen General Manager Chad Clarke. “We have had our eye on Carter all summer and he has come into our camp and earned his own way onto our hockey team the old fashioned way, he has worked his way onto our team.” Carter and his family hail from Gore Bay and the entire Island will be proud to see this young man’s work ethic out on the ice this season wearing his favorite No. 14 jersey. We have said it before that we want to be known as the North Shore’s junior hockey team and the addition of Gore Bay’s Carter Noble certainly re-enforces the Rivermen’s plan to include all of the North Shore and Manitoulin Island kids.”
Club Governor Tim Clayden commented stating, “It’s a lot of fun seeing local players grow into becoming members of the Rivermen. Just last summer Carter attended our hockey school as a student of the game and ironically today, as we finish up this year’s hockey school, Carter breaks camp as a member of our hockey club,” said Mr. Clayden. “It’s days like this that really make the game worth while when you see a local young man grow into becoming a member of our team, I know Coach McCarthy will work wonders with Carter, he’s all ears and eyes and ready for Tommy to mould into becoming an everyday player.”
