WAASKONESE Parker died peacefully at Health Sciences North, Sudbury on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the age of 56. Predeceased by parents Margaret “Maggie” (nee Migwans) and Vincent Debassige. Beloved husband of Donna Debassige. Loved father of Cheryl and Timmy-O Peltier, Lynda and Pie Trudeau, Ray Fox and Sean Meades. Proud grandfather of Devin, Seth, Joel and Drake. Dear brother of Ina Panamick (predeceased), Alfred Debassige (predeceased) (wife Gladys), Marjorie Webkamigad, Philip Howard Debassige (predeceased) (wife Joanne), Gregory Debassige, Norma Corbiere (Charlie), Lyla Kinoshmeg (Ray), Nicholas Debassige (Alice) (both predeceased), Patrick Debassige (predeceased), Joanne Debassige, and Doris Debassige. Loved by many nieces, nephews, Donna’s family, and friends. He was a member of the Rain Dance Lodge, and a traditional harvester of medicines. Parker was an accomplished carpenter; he was a Chicago Bears football fan; he loved Star Trek and loved to work in the potato patch and sugar camp. The last two years of Parker’s life was at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home and travelled four days a week to Sudbury HSN for dialysis. Family and friends gathered at the scared fire at sister Doris’ house, 40 Johnny’s Park Road, M’Chigeeng. Traditional Ceremony was held at 10 am at Sheguiandah Round House on Thursday, July 10, 2014 to celebrate Parker’s life. Recorder your memories and condolences at www.islandfuneralhome.ca.
