March 2, 1922 – May 28, 2014
Katherine or “Kate” as everyone called her, peacefully surrendered her life on May 29, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kate was born, raised, married, worked, and retired in Little Current. Kate and her late husband Steve Pinch, are survived by their daughter Brenda Rintoul and fiancee Greg Selinger, grandchildren Steven and wife Sarah, Suzanne and Rick Germain, great-grandchildren Anika Jane and River James Rintoul. In 1945 the family moved into a new house where she resided until she moved into Little Current Place. Kate loved it there and enjoyed the company and social functions with the residents, whether it was a game, working on a puzzle or a meal. Kate was a housewife and also worked at Fairways and then in the kitchen at the Centennial Manor until she retired. When she was not working, Kate kept herself busy with her hobbies; bird watching, reading, knitting, crocheting, genealogy, see a word puzzles and when she was able, gardening. When she wasn’t doing one of them she would be watching sports on TV. She enjoyed the company of her close friends and going out for a meal or for a drive to look for deer. Kate was very close to her family and spoke with them daily, keeping her informed about their lives in British Columbia and often talking about hockey, baseball or curling that was on the TV. Kate and her family are very grateful for those who made it possible for her to remain at home. Special thanks to Dr. Roy Jeffery, Janey Kuchta, V.O.N., C.C.A.C and Janice Mastelko who’s caring hands nursed her unconditionally over the years and saw to her needs, we cannot thank you enough. The Rintoul family. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm at the Island Funeral Home on June 11, 2014, with the funeral services to be held directly after at 12 pm and burial to follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Little Current. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Kate. Share your memories, condolences and photos on the Island Funeral Home’s website at www.islandfuneralhome.ca.
