OPP charge Hearst men with child pornography offences

HEARST – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have charged a Hearst man following a three month child pornography investigation.

In January 2014, the Toronto Police Service – Internet Child Exploitation Unit commenced an on-line undercover investigation. During the investigation, the suspect was identified sharing images of child sexual abuse. The location of the suspect was identified and believed to be from the north east region of Ontario. The investigation was turned over to the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit for further investigation.

On April 23, 2014 police from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, the OPP Technical Crime Unit and the James Bay OPP executed a search warrant at a Hearst residence.  As a result of this investigation, one computer was seized that contained images of child sexual abuse.

Fernand CANTIN, age 53 years, of Hearst Ontario is charged with two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, one count of Making Child Pornography Available and one count of Accessing Child Pornography.

The accused was remanded in custody scheduled to attend a bail hearing April 25, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane Ontario.

The investigation is continuing.

Pascal DELADURANTAYE, age 33 years, of Hearst Ontario is charged with three counts of Possession of Child Pornography and two counts of Making Child Pornography Available.

The accused was remanded in custody scheduled to attend a bail hearing April 25, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane Ontario.

The investigation is continuing.
