Methamphetamine pills seized following OPP investigation

KIRKLAND LAKE – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit along with assistance of a North East Region Canine Unit and members of the Ontario Provincial Police Kirkland Lake Detachment have charged two men with drug offences. The charges stem from the investigation of illegal drug related activities in the Kirkland Lake area. It culminated with a vehicle stop on Highway 66 in McGarry Township.

Seized as a result of the investigation were methamphetamine pills, and money. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $8,000. The incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on April 22, 2014.

Charged is Alan FORBES age 39 of Kirkland Lake with Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Assault Peace Officer and four counts of Fail to Comply with a Recognizance. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

Also charged is Jonathan FOX age 25 of Lebel Township with Possession of a Controlled Substance. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on June 12, 2014.
