DUSTIN LEONE AINSLIE


Ainslie-DeathSeptember 5, 1919 – April 12, 2014

In loving memory of Leone Ainslie, a resident of the Manitoulin Lodge and formerly of Elizabeth Bay, who died at the Lodge on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the age of 94 years. He was born at Elizabeth Bay, son of the late Edward and Mary (May) (Armstrong) Ainslie. Following World War II, Leone returned to Elizabeth Bay where he farmed until he went to Sault Ste. Marie where he worked at the Post Office until his retirement. He then returned to Elizabeth Bay where he lived until he moved to Manitoulin Lodge in 2010. Leone enjoyed hunting, travelling in his motorhome, collecting rocks and shells and listening to country and blue grass music. Leone was an inspiration to many members of his family and will be sadly missed, but many memories will be cherished. Leone was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne Elizabeth (Stone) Ainslie on May 3, 2007. Loving father of Marty (wife Molly) of Elizabeth Bay, Ron (wife Carolyn) of Sault Ste. Marie and Gerry Thomas of St. Thomas. Proud grandfather of Kate and Joel Merrylees, Corinna and Liam Foley, Pam Jones, Dustin and Rhonda Ainslie, Tracie Thomas, Jenny and Rod Davis and Becki Thomas and 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Naomi Ainslie of California and brother Norton Ainslie (wife Helen) of Parry Sound, and brother-in-law George Bartlett of Orangeville. Predeceased by sister Elizabeth Bartlett and brother Sandy Ainslie. Friends called at the Culgin Funeral Home on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service to celebrate Leone`s life was conducted in the Wm. G. Turner Chapel at 11 am with Rev. Janice Frame officiating. Cremation to follow.
