Traffic stop for speeding leads to alcohol charges

MANITOULIN – On Saturday April 19, 2014 at 2:40 am officers of The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol on Highway 6 in NEMI Township when they observed a 2008 Ford FMS vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver alcohol was detected.

As a result of this investigation a 35 year old driver from Sheguiandah has been arrested and charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle Exceeding 80mgs of Alcohol. They were released on a Promise to Appear and will be appearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on April 28, 2014.
