March 12, 1947 – April 10, 2014
Doug Kennedy, a resident of Spring Bay, died suddenly at his resident just one week after his retirement. Doug was born in Sudbury, son of the late Russell and Annabelle (Campbell) Kennedy. He had worked as a mechanic for many years for Elwood Sloss, then at Northern Consolidated, and for the past 14 years was a clerk at Foodland in Mindemoya. Doug was a true mechanic at heart, and loved to fix things. If it didn’t work, Doug could fix it! He will be sadly missed in the community. Doug is survived by his beloved wife Vicki (Stephens) Kennedy. Loving and loved father of Douglas (Erica) of Oshawa, Darryl of Gravenhurst and Cheryl of Iroquois Falls. Proud grandfather of Wyatt, Sonja, Brooke-Lynn, Johannes, Hunter, Noah, Devon and Jaime. Also survived by Vicki’s family, Chamain (Tony VanderEyken), Larry, Rudy, Tom (Marrianna Boytor predeceased), Jack (Aline Chalifoulx), Allan, Paul (Laural Wilson), Kim (Lewis Jewell), Philip (Pam Collins), Marty, Maxine (Don Howson predeceased), Nona (Gordon Ray predeceased), Gulda (Nick Kalniuk, both predeceased). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place. A memorial funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life was conducted at Spring Bay Pentecostal Church on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 11 am with Pastor Dan Thompson officiating. If so desired, donations to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.culginfuneralhome.ca.
