Sudbury — The 31st Easter Seals Telethon is fast approaching. Sunday, April 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. will be the first time the show will be broadcast live from the Eastlink studios in Sudbury. It will also be aired on Cogeco.
The annual Telethon provides an opportunity to get to know some local Easter Seals families and hear their stories. Local Easter Seals Ambassadors Cassandra Degn and Kyle Leblanc make their second Telethon appearance and will be joined by alumni ambassadors, local television and radio hosts and Easter Seals supporters.
As always, the Telethon will celebrate the year’s fundraising successes, recognize generous supporters, and raise essential funds that help hundreds of northern children with physical disabilities and their families who need assistance.
Cathy Macey, Volunteer Chair of the northern Telethon is amazed by the continued support year after year.
“We can change locations, change the format but the fact that Easter Seals kids continue to need our assistance remains the same. The success of the show determines how much the organization can help the hundreds of northern Ontario kids that rely on the funding year after year.”
The next few weeks will be spent on finishing touches, scheduling and continued recruitment of VIP’s. “The VIP area is a fast growing component of Telethon and an opportunity for individuals to showcase their businesses while raising money for children with physical disabilities, all while sitting in a comfy recliner on set.” added Nicole Blais, Easter Seals northern Ontario Development Manager.
Donations can be called into the show live throughout the broadcast or can be made on-line at www.eastersealstelethon.org. Individuals can fundraise for the Telethon by using the online fundraising tool to create individual fundraising pages which can be forwarded to friends, family and co-workers.
Easter Seals Ontario provides financial assistance to families of kids and youth with physical disabilities for costly equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, braces and communication devices, as well as fully accessible summer camping experiences and funding for other summer recreational programs. Easter Seals relies fully on donations from the public to offer its programs and services.
