March 24—Spring is here by the calendar but this week has been much colder but sunny.
The Ford World’s Women’s Curling was held this week. There were a lot of close games. Canada did well. Switzerland won the gold, Canada won the silver, Russia won the bronze over Korea. More curling on this week again.
Welcome back to Nola Haner after spending several months in Florida.
We extend sympathy to the McFarlane families in the passing of Bev. And sympathy to Don and Patricia Norton in the passing of their son-in-law in Sudbury. They attended the funeral on Saturday.
A number of people attended the luncheon and program in the fellowship room at the Pentecostal Church in Spring Bay last Thursday. It was much enjoyed.
There was a full house at St. Francis Anglican Church in Mindemoya both Friday night and Saturday afternoon for the entertainment. Thanks to the Piches and the Hawberry Band who supplied such great singing and music. It was well received. We’re looking forward to another program at a later date.
Providence Bay Curling Club held their windup on the weekend with curling and a delicious fish dinner on Sunday and gave out the prizes.
The ESSO was played last week at Manitowaning. Providence Bay and Mindemoya took part. The winners were the Providence Bay curlers. Their names will go on the trophy. Congratulations!
