Bob Caddle rink scores eight-ender at Providence Bay men’s curling bonspiel

PROVIDENCE BAY––While the Gord Gilpin rink were the first event champions at the annual Providence Bay Curling Club men’s bonspiel held recently, the weekend was also historic for a very rare eight-ender that was scored by the Bob Caddle-skipped rink in one of its games.

“The weekend started with the Bob Caddle rink scoring an eight-ender in its game against the Lew Lanktree rink,” confirmed Dave McDermid of the Providence Bay Curling Club on Sunday.

In the first event, the Gord Gilpin rink took the first place final. His rink included Chris Gordon, Jim Gilpin and Don Orford. They defeated the Terry Addison rink which also included Jack Clark, Marc Addison and Bill Reich.

The Lew Lanktree rink was the winner of the second event, over the Ken Cranston team. The Lanktree rink included Glen Case, Henry Dykoski and Murray Haner.

In the third event, the Dave McDermid rink won over the Bob Caddle rink. The McDermid rink included Dave McDermid, Robert McDermid, Gordie McDermid junior and T.J. McDermid. The Bob Caddle rink also included Jack White, Angus MacDonald and Fred Johns.

A total of 16 rinks took part in the annual men’s bonspiel.
