October 8, 1937 – February 6, 2014

In loving memory of Mary Van Horn, a resident of Providence Bay, who died at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the age of 76 years. She was born at Meldrum Bay, daughter of the late Feltus and Mary (Gareau) James. Mary devoted her life to her family and spent countless hours knitting and crocheting gifts for everyone. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards and shopping. As well, Mary loved animals, reading, doing puzzles and growing beautiful flowers. When her family was old enough, Mary continued her caring ways by working as a Health Care Aid at Manitoulin Lodge Nursing Home. Dearly loved wife of Wallace Van Horn. Loving and loved mother of Ruthanne (Richard predeceased) Francis of Thunder Bay, Carol (Pat O’Rourke) of Cambridge, Lyle (Peggy) of Louisiana, Linda Antler (Tim Brown) of Markdale, Jimmy predeceased in 1962, Bruce of Mindemoya, Roberta (Robert Maillet) of Owen Sound and Terri (Lee Corbiel) of Sudbury. Proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren (grandson Kevin Van Horn predeceased) and 19 great-grandchildren and two more expected in the near future. Also survived by sisters Evelyn Toni (Bob predeceased) and Betty Dearing (Robert predeceased). Predeceased by siblings George and Helen Everett, Harvey and Florence James, Bill and Dorothy James, and Beatrice James. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
