HAZEL ILENE (SMITH) ROWE

Hazel Ilene (Smith) Rowe passed away peacefully in her 87th year at home in Dutton with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 28 2014. Beloved wife of the late William Rowe (October 13, 2001). Dear mother and grandmother of Michael and Bonnie Rowe, Michaela Rowe, Ian and Candice Rowe; Christena and Henning “Henry” Larsen, Kelly Larsen; Donald and Lou-Anne Rowe, Amber Rowe and Lincoln Lynch, Becky and Jakub Wrobel, Kayleigh Rowe; Linda Johnstone, Karyn Johnstone, Leslie Johnstone and Jeremy Shrubb, Elizabeth Rowe; Steven and Tammy Rowe, Ashley and Josh Locke, Jenna and Jamie Husband. Cherished great-grandmother of Caleb, Deklan, Merrick, Callum, Shayla, Jonavin, Patryk, Weston, and Lauren. Sister of Jean and Ray Lunn, Erle and June Smith and sister-in-law of Marion Smith, Jessie Lunn, Vera Lampman, Patricia and Gene Harris, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Garfield and Susie (Lampman) Smith, parents-in-law John and Mary (Marshman) Rowe, brothers Murray Smith, Elmer Smith, sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Dick Stafford, Raymond Lunn, Marguerite and Gerald Hardy, Lloyd “Kao” Lampman, Jean Marie and Norman Jackson. Hazel was born and raised in Paynes Mills. After marrying Bill, they farmed in Cowal prior to moving to Frome, where they raised their family. Hazel worked many years at Northern Electric, and was an active member of the Paynes Mills Women’s Institute. Bill and Hazel retired to Dutton in 1996, and enjoyed 30 years of summers on Manitoulin Island. Hazel will be sadly missed by her Manitoulin Island family. Relatives and friends were received at the Arn Funeral Home, 193 Shackleton Street, Dutton, 519-762-2416, Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm, where the funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:30 pm. Interment in Cowal-McBride Cemetery. Donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society, Knox-St. Andrew Presbyterian Church or Dutton Daffodil-Welfare would be appreciated.
