Ross Armstrong named interim M’Chigeeng chief

M’CHIGEENG—With a leave of absence taken by M’Chigeeng Morgan Hare, deputy chief Ross Armstrong has taken over the position on an interim basis.

“I will serve the community as interim chief for four months,” said Chief Armstrong. “I just started this past Monday,” he told The Expositor on Wednesday of last week.

Interim Chief Armstrong explained that Chief Hare has taken a leave of absence due to personal reasons.

“I have been a member of council for one-and-a-half years,” Interim Chief Armstrong told The Expositor, noting being the deputy chief he had automatically been put in the chief position, with Chief Hare taking a leave.

“It’s going to be an exciting time,” stated Interim Chief Armstrong. “We are here for the community,” he said noting that “I am going to be an office chief, I have passed over outside meetings to council members.”

“I will be in the office for the people of this community,” said Interim Chief Armstrong. “My door is always open for community members to come in to bring forward concerns, questions and input to provide unity and a stronger community.”
