Environment Canada Weather Warning

Manitoulin Island

Freezing rain warning for Manitoulin Island issued

Freezing rain likely Wednesday.

Based on current computer guidance, a low pressure system over Colorado may reach Iowa by Wednesday morning then track northeast towards the Great Lakes by Wednesday evening.

Over Northeastern Ontario south of a line from Searchmont to North Bay precipitation will start as snow mixed with ice pellets then change to freezing rain by midday Wednesday. Several hours of freezing rain may be possible before changing to rain in Wednesday evening.

However, there is still some uncertainty with the track and development of this low pressure system which may affect where the freezing rain will fall. The warning may need to be extended farther north as required when the system gets closer.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully as untreated roads could become icy and slippery.
