Column: Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary News

The Little Current Hospital Auxiliary has been busy and with the Christmas season upon us, they’re going to get busier. Members are gearing up for the annual Cookie Walk, which takes place from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, December 14 at the United Church Hall on Robinson St. in Little Current. They are planning to have a membership drive at that time as well.

Auxiliary Bursaries continue at Manitoulin Secondary School and Wiikwemkoong High School, awarded to students in a health-related field. This year, a Wiikwemkoong High School student was recipient and two students at MSS also received bursaries from the auxiliary.

The Tuck Shop at the Little Current Hospital has a full complement of volunteers, and the shop is now open Monday to Friday, 11 am to 1 pm.

Several auxiliary members volunteered to put smiles on cookies during Tim Horton’s most recent Smile Cookie Campaign, in which the Lions Club was involved. The proceeds from the recent Little Current campaign will go to the Little Current Hospital Auxiliary and Fixing our Felines. The auxiliary is most grateful to the Lions Club for their help, as raising funds for hospital projects and equipment is the auxiliary’s main focus. Other projects are in the works in which both the hospital and the auxiliary are involved. More details will follow in the coming months, so stay tuned.
