LIVELY—A Lively, Ontario couple who won over $500,000 in a Health Sciences North 50/50 cash lottery win are contemplating using some of their winnings to own a camp on Manitoulin Island.
Leah Tessier and Donald Spurr won the October $507,762 HSN 50/50 Cash Lottery win.
“I honestly thought that maybe I had won the Taylor Swift tickets, but when I was told that draw already happened and I won over half-a-million dollars, I was stunned,” Ms. Tessier said in a media release. “Totally at a loss for words. I still am!”
Ms. Tessier said, “We buy tickets every month just to support the cause. Outside of the birth of our children, we have had limited use of HSN’s services, but we know how important a strong healthcare system is to our community.”
The couple plans on spending their winnings on their family, which includes three children. “We definitely want to look into a new house with a bit more space for the family and obviously saving for the kids’ futures, but we’ve been toying with the idea of a camp on Manitoulin Island for awhile and this might allow us to take those ideas a little more seriously,” added Ms. Tessier in the release.
