Lions 50/50 draw hauls in $7,200

GORE BAY—Dave Thompson, a resident of Nameless Lake in Gordon-Barrie Island, is the winner of the Gore Bay-Western Manitoulin Lions Club annual 50/50 draw.

“Normally I just make a donation to the Lions, I don’t expect to win draws like this,” said Mr. Thompson. “But it is always nice to win.”

“The winning ticket was drawn by Sam Khoury, Lions District Governor A5 at our meeting (held on Tuesday) (last) week,” said Lion President Eric Ruediger.

Mr. Ruediger said the Lions 50/50 draw was a success, “the ticket sales were $7,200 in ticket sales with Dave (Thompson) receiving half the prize of $3,600.” He pointed out Lion Bill Wilson sold the majority of the tickets for this year’s draw, the fifth year the Lions Club has held a 50/50 draw.

The Lions share of the funds derived from the 50/50 draw will go back into the community, said Mr. Ruediger.

Mr. Thompson said his winnings will go toward house improvements.
