Manitoulin Secondary School Mustangs athlete Ava Corbiere placed second in the senior girls division at the North Shore Secondary School Athletics championship. Earlier in the week Ms. Corbiere, shown in photo, competed in the 2024 Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletics girls golf championship. After two rounds of competitive golf at the Ambassador golf club in Windsor, Ontario. Ms. Corbiere was able to post two very strong personal scores before rushing back to Manitoulin Island after her round Thursday evening in order to compete in her cross-country race Friday morning at the Massey Fairgrounds. The north was well represented at OFSSA golf with five girls from Sudbury, North Bay and Manitoulin making up the NOSSA team. Lea Lemuiex from Lockerby Composite Secondary School out of Sudbury finished second overall by posting rounds of 72 and 71.
