Manitoulin Family Resources opens Treasures Thrift Store in Mindemoya

MINDEMOYA—Manitoulin Family Resources (MFR) will be opening the Treasures Thrift Store on Saturdays for the next few weeks.

“We are very busy in the Treasures Thrift Store, with lots of donations having been coming in,” said Vanessa Glasby, food security program officer with MFR. “As of (last) week and until the end of August, we will now be opening the store on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. We are doing this on a trial run, looking at next summer, and we feel it will appeal to people who work during the week but would like to use the services of the thrift store on the weekend.”

“We have been very busy and have received lots of donations for the thrift store and are hoping to be able to move more of those items out of the store with the additional day,” said Ms. Glasby.

While the Food Bank will not be open as well on Saturday, Ms. Glasby explained, “the food bank is very busy, but right now donations are down.”

The Treasures Thrift Store and the Food Bank will now be open Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm and Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm (closed Thursday and Monday). Both facilities are open Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, and the thrift store will be open Saturday through the end of August from 10 am to 2 pm.
