WIIKWEMKOONG—The Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service (WTPS) and the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit are investigating a death in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.
On April 25, shortly after 11 pm, the WTPS and Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services responded to a person in medical distress on Henry Street in Wiikwemkoong. This person was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.
The Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit is conducting an investigation in conjunction with WTPS and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
There is no threat to public safety at this time.
