Hockey fundraiser for Lyndon “Linny” Peltier brings outstanding action to M’Chigeeng FN

M’CHIGEENG—The on-ice action was fast and furious as hockey players from across Manitoulin gathered for a special fundraising hockey game in the M’Chigeeng Arena on Saturday, April 27.

“Tonight’s game raised a total of $5,046 to help support Lyndon and his family over the next couple of weeks as they head to Ottawa,” noted organizer Dustin Peltier. “It’s a beautiful thing to see the community come together to support one of our own. Chi Miigwetch  to everyone for coming out and supporting my niitaawis Lyndon Peltier and his family. We hope that everyone who attended had a great time watching a neck and neck game that had the game winner scored with 3.6 seconds left!”

Lyndon Peltier was able to attend through a livestream being cast by Gordie Odjig of Wiikwemkoong.

Meanwhile, scores of attendees kept the canteen and penny tables humming.

Longtime Wiikwemkoong media personality Gordie Odjig was livestreaming the event so that Lyndon Peltier could take part in the proceedings from his hospital bed in Toronto.
