(HUBERT) BARRY SIMON

1959 – 2011
Barry Simon passed away from cancer in Ottawa on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. He is missed, mourned and always remembered by his loving husband Rob Sutherland, by his parents Max and Margaret Simon of Wawa, his siblings Dan (Kate) of M’Chigeeng, John (Linda) of Wawa, Gordie of Wikwemikong, Theresa (Bill Dawyd) of Sault Ste. Marie, Rudy (predeceased), Gina (Viola) of Tiverton (Ottawa), Sandy (Darlene) of Wawa, Donna of Thunder Bay, Darlene, also of Thunder Bay, and by Rob’s daughter Grace MacDonald of Kingston. He is also loved and missed by many, many nephews, nieces, cousins and wonderful friends across this great land of ours. Barry had a wonderful and full life in his 52 years. He was a worker at Lake Superior Provincial Park, a public service employee, worked and ran the resource centre for the Assembly of First Nations, and helped run a Bed and Breakfast before his illness slowed him down. Even then he lived life to its fullest–and he had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face right until the end. A memorial funeral mass was held at Holy Name of Mary Church, 134 Bridge Street, Almonte, on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 5 pm. A mass will also follow at a later time in Wawa. He had asked to be cremated with ashes going to places he loved. Barry was so very, very special. We are privileged that he was in our lives, and that we all felt the warm glow of his pure love. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to Wabano Aboriginal Healing Centre in Ottawa.
