ANNIE CATHERINE MADAHBEE BREYER

ANNIE CATHERINE MADAHBEE BREYER
March 19, 1929 – February 2, 2024
Annie Catherine Madahbee Breyer, eldest member of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre on February 2, 2024 at the age of 94. Born at home to Mary Louise (nee Corbiere) and Peter Madahbee on March 19, 1929. Loving mother of Margaret (Roy), son Fred (Marilyn) and beloved grandson Jonathan. Predeceased by husbands Fred Lodder and Harry Breyer. One of 17 siblings, she leaves behind sisters Patsy Corbiere (Roger, deceased) and Anita Panamick (Jim); brothers Archie Madahbee (Virginia) and Patrick Madahbee (Charlotte) and countless people who lovingly called her Auntie. She was a wonderful, gentle lady who brightened the lives of those who were fortunate enough to spend time with her. There was grace in Annie’s steps, love in every gesture she made. We will never forget her love for her family. A respected Elder and positive role model, she will be greatly missed. The design on her ribbon skirt incorporates her love of flowers and that she was a member of the Bear Clan (Makwa). The ribbon colours relate to the seasons, directions, elements and the cycle of life. They speak of the need for balance, harmony and respect as bringers of happiness, qualities she portrayed throughout her life. She made the world a better place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Wikwemikong Nursing Home Building Fund, Manitoulin Health Centre, Manitoulin Pet Rescue or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
