Link Mustangs!

This past Thursday (Sept. 28th), Manitoulin Secondary sent seven Mustang golfers (5 male/2 female) to the 2023 NOSSA Golf Championships, hosted by Lively Golf & Country Club. After a shotgun start at 9:30am and 18 holes of beautiful weather, three of the MSS golfers managed to secure a spot at the OFSAA Championships (Oct.11-12th) in Southern Ontario.

On the ladies side, Amy Smith of Gore Bay finished T4 shooting a 103, and Ava Corbiere finished 2nd overall with a personal best shooting a 99. The girls will represent NOSSA and Manitoulin at the Batteaux Creek Golf Club in Collingwood.

As the final scores were tallied and the team was ready to head back to Manitoulin, whispers began to circulate that a Playoff Hole would have to be played in order to determine the final male golfer to represent NOSSA. After the first golfer put their ball into the water, Noah Thorpe (81), stepped up with a clutch teeshot to put him a foot off the front of the green, and two-putt his way to OFSAA! Noah will head to Windsor with rounds beginning the 11th at Ambassador Golf Club.

Congratulations to these and all golfers who have represented MSS over the past three weeks, with one of the stronger finishes in recent memory: Ava Corbiere – 99, Amy Smith – 103, Noah Thorpe – 81, Rylan Carrick – 90, Corbin Best – 106, Eli Lock – 108 and Jack Carter – 111.
