JOSEPH WATTS MIDDLETON It is with deep sorrow and blessed assurance that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joseph Watts Middleton, who passed away peacefully at home into his Saviour’s waiting arms on September 19, 2023 at the age of 81. Loving husband of Mary Middleton (Rowe) for 58 years. Lovingly remembered by his children Bruce Middleton (Nikki), Tim Middleton (Margaret), Christie Middleton (James), Mary-Jo Harper (Dan) and Jamie Middleton (Carmen). Loved and missed by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Loving son to Dougal and Lily Middleton (predeceased). Loving brother to Fred Middleton (predeceased), Ronnie Middleton (predeceased) and Lorna Hall (Ross). Dear to good friends Hank and Jane. Joe was indeed a jack-of-all-trades. Everyone he met, he lent a helping hand and touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path. For many years, he worked alongside his friend John for the Manitoulin Livestock Co-Op. They teamed up together making maple syrup, Ronnie and Allen joining them to perfect the family recipe. After moving out to his farm in Evansville, a dream he had for a long time, he began work at Lafarge. He worked as a mechanic until retirement, and although he was one of the best in his field for miles, his heart was on the farm. He even had an old friend, a crippled pig, that he chatted with out in the barn. Music was a big part of Joe’s life and he passed on a great love for it to his children and grandchildren. He would come home on his lunch break from work and play with his children, and in later years, he enjoyed many music nights with family and friends. He was very specific on what he deemed was actually music, letting everyone who would listen know, “why are you listening to that crap?” He had many dreams and plans for future projects, like his Model A and his sawmill, and often lamented that there wasn’t enough time to complete them. Although there will never be enough time with the one we loved, the family is happy there is no more sorrow, no more pain and Joe is finally at peace with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and all the loved ones that have gone before him. There will be no funeral at this time, but a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd, Espanola.
