Manitoulin Special Olympics teams both medal

MANITOULIN—Two Manitoulin Special Olympics (MSO) softball teams fared very well at a regional tournament held in North Bay recently.

“It went very well,” said MSO coordinator Janet Anning, last week. “Our C division team won a bronze medal; they almost won their last game and if they had, they would have finished second.”

Ms. Anning explained, “our t-ball team got a gold medal, but there were only two teams in this division so we put everyone together and had a game amongst them.”

“Our teams had a lot of fun,” said Ms. Anning.

There were four divisions in the tournament which, along with the teams from Manitoulin, included those from Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay and Almaguin.

The MSO C division team included Dylan Danville, Michael Cormier, Andrew Splawnyck, Reagan Millsap, John Hopkin, Michael Harper, Tyler Madahbee, Jeffrey Harper, Matthew Bedard, Emily Moggy, William Leclair and head coach Sandy Graham.

The MSO t-ball team included Aaron Nicholl, Braeden Harper, David Gagne, Norm Daoust, Danielle Foreshew, Rebecca Strain, Bruce VanHorn, Anna Bateman, Tim Bradley and volunteer coach Heather Strain.
