Craege (Buchanan) McQuarrie passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in his 78th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Audrey (nee Burns). Loving stepfather of Cindy King (Ted Somes). Grandfather of Steven and Dustin Gasparotto. Predeceased by his parents Helen and Malcolm McQuarrie. Dear brother of Jacqueline Gordon (Stan), Molly McQuarrie, Christie McQuarrie-Van der Jagt (Fred) and predeceased by his brothers Dugal and Mickle. Fondly remembered by his special cousins Marianne Knight, Marg Porter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Craege gave his time to many volunteer agencies and received the Canada 125 Award in 1992 which is given to those who have distinguished themselves through service to others. He was a member of the Gore Bay Masonic Lodge for 54 years. Craege will be fondly remembered for his love of the North Channel, the Manitoulin Island, the history of the area as well as his love for the annual deer hunt. Friends called at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 7 pm to 9 pm. Funeral service was celebrated from Willowgrove United Church (55 Tilley Road) on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Dr. David Zub officiating.
