Rockin’ the Rock takes to Flatrock Entertainment grounds this weekend, August 11 and 12

LITTLE CURRENT—The hills will soon be alive with the sound of music, rock music that is, wailing guitars, pounding drums as some of the greatest legends of rock take to the Flatrock Entertainment grounds stage to perform August 11 and 12.

“I’m beyond excited,” said Rockin’ the Rock (RTR) promoter KT Timmermans, taking a short break from getting the Flatrock Entertainment grounds ready for the event (and the following Manitoulin Country Fest event). “I am absolutely thrilled we have been able to attract such a high calibre of musicians.”

Ms. Timmermans expressed gratitude to the acts who will be travelling to Manitoulin Island for the show. “We are not part of the mainstream,” she said. “Musicians have to have a vehicle just to get here. When you realize that 12-14 people from different parts of the world have to get here, it’s very challenging. We are so appreciative they include us on their radar.”

Those looking for camping are advised to email info@rockntherock.ca, but tickets are only available at eventbright.ca.

This year’s RTR has an impressive lineup that includes Friday, August 11 headliners Haywire, preceded by SAGA, Carole Pope and Rough Trade, and Sudbury sensation Pop Machine.

Saturday, August 12, it’s Aldo Nova as headliners with a crowd warmed up by Railroad Steele, Toronto and The Stampeders.

Unfortunately, this year will likely not see fireworks due to the ongoing challenges of fire bans.

What is going ahead, however, is the August 10 Rockin’ the Rock Cruise 2023 aboard North Channel Cruise Lines’ Grand Heron. The popular tour boards at 6:30 pm and includes barbecue hamburgers and sausages served with side caesar salad. Meals must be pre-ordered during the booking process. The bar aboard the Grand Heron accepts cash, debit and credit cards. Go online at northchanneltours.com/online-bookings for tickets.
