Haweater on the Sudbury Ryder Cup golf championship team

SUDBURY—For the second straight year, Chase Chatwell (who is originally from Gore Bay) and his Lively Golf course teammates have won the Sudbury Ryder Cup golf championship. Once again this year it took a furious comeback to win.

On the weekend of July 7-9, the Lively team came back on day three of the tournament, with both final two matches still in play in terms of final results. It could have resulted in a Lively repeat, a Timberwolf golf course triumph or the first playoff since the early 2000s.

However, Tom Watier did enough for the Lively team to finish one up joining six other Lively teammates who secured a half point or better. This included Mr. Chatwell wining three and two over Pat Laferriere.

Lively finished in first play in the three-day competition with 11 points, Timberwolf was second with 10 points and the Idylwylde team finishing with three points. The local Ryder Cup features partnered match play events the first two days, with 12 head-to-head battles highlighting things on Sunday.
