Serviceman expresses gratitude for Legion card campaign

A kindness that touched deeply

To the Expositor:

My name is Major Martin Bailey and I am currently deployed as part of the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U) as the Knowledge Management Officer (KMO). On Saturday, July 1 we celebrated Canada Day, inviting over 400 individuals from 20 different partner nations, including Ukraine, to help celebrate Canada’s 156th Birthday. This event was a huge success in part due to the supplies donated by your Legion. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the post cards individually written to service members. What excited me most about these cards is that they were written in Little Current!!! I spent the first 18 years of my life in Little Current living at 39 Blake Street, attending Little Current Public School and working at Dunn’s Foodmart. My mother, Mary Ellen Bailey, was very active in the community and catered more weddings than I can possibly begin to count at the Legion.

What I am saying is that Little Current and the Little Current Legion have played large roles in my life, and although I have been away now for many years, your act of kindness touched me deeply. Therefore, on behave of myself and my team I would like to thank you for your act of kindness.

Thank you,
Major Martin DS Bailey
