WALLACE CARMON BRUCE VAN HORN July 4, 1932 – June 15, 2023 Just shy of his 91st birthday, Wallace Carmon Bruce Van Horn left this world, finally at peace, on June 15, 2023 with family at his side, in his home of the past three and a half years, Manitoulin Centennial Manor. Wally was born July 4, 1932, the youngest son of Annie Mae Crawford and William Augustus Van Horn (both predeceased). Wally was a responsible dedicated family man who worked hard to build a life with his loving wife Mary (predeceased) and to support their large family. He was a seasoned bush worker as well as an equipment operator with MTO for over 32 years. After retirement Wally’s skills were still in demand, so he bought himself a grader and took care of township roads for another 12 years. He was quiet and private, yet very quick witted and always enjoyed a good joke. He enjoyed country music and loved to dance. He loved Manitoulin and never wanted to be anywhere else. Wally was a loving father to Ruthanne Francis (Richard predeceased) (Dan Bryson) of Manitoulin Island, Carol O’Rourke (Pat predeceased) of Cambridge, Lyle Van Horn (Peggy) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Linda Antler (Ed predeceased ) (Tim Brown) of Markdale, Jimmy Van Horn (predeceased), Bruce Van Horn of Mindemoya, Roberta Maillet (Peter Henderson predeceased) (Robert) of Doyle’s Brook, New Brunswick and Terri Van Horn of Sudbury. Proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren (Kevin Van Horn predeceased) and 28 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by all his siblings and survived by many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of the Lives of both Mary and Wally will be held at Simpson Funeral Home on July 15, 2023 at 1 pm. A private burial will follow at the Meldrum Bay Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoulin Centennial Manor or Community Living Manitoulin. Please share your thoughts, memories and photos at www.simpsonfuneralhome.ca.
