MINDEMOYA—When asked who was in charge of the yard/bake sale put on by the Friends of the Mindemoya Old School, Lynn Quesnel immediately pointed to Jan McQuay. “I’m not in charge,” Ms. McQuay insisted, “not of this event. Lynn Quesnel organized it all—the bake sale, the antiques, the yard sale and the trunk sale, it’s all her doing.”
Both women were pleased with the turn out on Saturday, June 10 at the Lion’s Pavilion in Mindemoya. “These were piled high with stuff,” Ms. McQuay said, indicating the tables under the pavilion where only a few scattered items remained. “And the bake sale has been a huge success.”
Lunch was being offered, there was a 50/50 draw, door prizes and trunk sales. “We’re charging $20 for people to come and sell things out of the trunks of their cars and if they wish to give us an additional donation they can, but they don’t have to,” Ms. McQuay said.
There were many helpers at the event. “Oh, we have lots and lots of volunteers,” she said, “too many to name. And the response from the community has been amazing. The proceeds of this event will go to retrofitting and renovating the Mindemoya Old School.” All the volunteers were beaming with the success of their fundraising efforts.
