Manitoulin Secondary School Mustangs Skills and Technology team competes well at provincial championships

M’CHIGEENG—Several members of the Manitoulin Secondary School (MSS) Mustangs skills and technology team competed at the provincial championships, and although they didn’t medal those who participated did a fantastic job.

“Even though our students did not make the podium this year, we are extremely proud of their efforts and skills to make it to the provincial level,” said MSS technological studies teacher Stephen Robinson. “They made MSS and Manitoulin proud, demonstrating their exceptional skills in the competition. Their maturity level and behaviour were noticed and commented on by members of the Rainbow District School Board (RDSB) and executives of Cambrian College as being exceptional.”

The MSS students had excelled at the regional and RDSB board level to qualify at the provincial level.

Kowan Orford and Corbin Best competed in the ‘team of two’ carpentry competition against 47 other teams from around Ontario.

MSS student Mckenna Barnes competed in welding against 27 other competitors from across Ontario.

The provincial skills competition took place in Toronto from May 1-3.
