MSS Kids in the Hall

Welcome back to school! It’s a new semester and everyone is starting to figure out their new classes! There are already fundraising, special events and theme days planned for February.

As we step into this semester, we are saying goodbye to a special member of the MSS community. Mrs. Marshall announced her retirement to students on Friday, February 3. On Google Classroom, she wrote, “I have enjoyed 31 years working at Manitoulin Secondary School and now am moving into a new stage of life—retirement! My favourite part of my time at MSS was meeting and getting to know you, the students. I have laughed, cried and learned something from so many of you!” We are going to miss Mrs. Marshall, but I know we are all happy she is closing this door and opening others!

On a happier note (or not-so-happy for some), it’s almost Valentine’s Day! Love is in the air, and so is…soup? That’s right, the robotics team will be hosting a soup day to celebrate. There will be soup and chili along with some Valentine’s day goodies. Grab some food for your significant other or friends before it runs out! All proceeds will go towards offsetting Manitoulin Metal’s carbon emissions and helping make our school more eco-friendly! I’m excited to see everybody there, and even more excited to eat some chili!

Here are some quick updates:

College applications were due on Wednesday, February 1! Best of luck to every applicant!

Next year’s classes will be selected very shortly. There will be some instruction on how to do so for current students and students coming into MSS. As per usual, the MyBlueprint program will be used to do this. Keep your eye out for future updates!

That is all for now! I’m sure there will be more exciting updates as the semester progresses. I hope everyone reading has had a good week and will continue to do so. Until next time, as Mrs. Marshall said, “believe in yourself, accept your uniqueness and be kind!”
