Ken Blodgett sworn in as Gore Bay councillor

GORE BAY—Ken Blodgett has been officially sworn in as the new councillor for the Town of Gore Bay.

“I’m glad to be back on council,” Mr. Blodgett told The Expositor, after a council meeting last week. “I was on the previous council, and I think this council could be even a little stronger.”

At last week’s meeting council unanimously voted in favour of appointing Mr. Blodgett to council. “Congratulations,” stated Mayor Ron Lane. “I want to thank you for agreeing to accept the appointment to council and we look forward to working with you. With your previous experience on council, we will draw on this,” he said, noting Mr. Blodgett is already a member of the town government committee.

“I want to thank all of you for voting me back in,” said Councillor Blodgett, who indicated he is looking forward to being a member of council.

Gore Bay council had a vacant seat on council after former councillor Leeanne Woestenenk (who had been elected in the municipal election last fall) resigned from council late last fall.

Council had options to consider for filling the vacant seat—by appointing someone or holding a byelection.

“I like being involved, and I thought I did a pretty good job on council previously,” said Councillor Blodgett. He pointed out he has been a member of council for 15 years.
