July 18, 1955 – October 25, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steve on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at his home at the age of 67. Cherished husband of Sally (McMullen) of 46 years. Loving and much-loved father of Jacqueline (Kevin). Proud Pop of Jack and Ryan, who will miss him greatly. Son of Jerry and Lorraine Smith, and son-in-law of Bill and Hazel McMullen, predeceased. Steve will be missed by his brothers Tom and Adam, sister-in-law Tracy, nieces and nephew Kristen, Matthew and Emilie. He was very fortunate throughout his life to have many call him friend. As a young man Steve worked at his family’s businesses in Little Current: Smith’s Pro Hardware and later Smith’s Jewelry and Gifts. Recently retired from Okeechobee Lodge after more than 25 years, Steve was enjoying his “off days”. In his time there, Steve enjoyed meeting people and formed some lasting friendships. Steve was the life of the party and loved to have a good time. He had an unmatched sense of humour and could tell a story like no other. He kept us on our toes, never knowing what he was up to next. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, music, hunting, and visits to the camp with the dogs. We will cherish the memories we have and the stories he told. Cheers Big Fella! As per Steve’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
