LITTLE CURRENT—With Haweater Weekend just around the corner, the Little Current Lions are hoping to find some willing volunteers who would like to lend a hand with ‘Manitoulin’s biggest bash.’
Haweater Weekend, this year with the theme of Yee-Haw, runs from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31. There is a great lineup of events for just about everyone, as always, but the club is finding it difficult to fill all the roles needed to put on such a busy weekend with club members only.
“We are hoping that the community will rally and help us out,” Lion President Bruce Burnett told The Expositor. “There are time slots to fill at places like the ballfield beer gardens and Hawfest dance (Smart Serve certification is not required but is welcomed), the lazer tag ticket booth, the Lions information desk downtown and more. With the exception of the beer garden and dances, of course, there are some great opportunities for students to gain their volunteer hours and have fun while doing it.”
“The Lions can get stretched pretty thin on Haweater Weekend so any volunteer time, even if it’s just a few hours, would be really helpful,” Lion Lori Draper, Haweater Weekend co-chair, said. “And who knows—you might just want to stick around and join the club!” Lion President Bruce added with a grin.

Happy Haweater!
