In loving memory of Mildred Berniece Sloss (nee Wood). Berniece passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor in Little Current at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Dougal Gilchrist and Verdun Sloss (both predeceased). Cherished mother of Leslie (Brenda), June, Douglas (Laurie), Janice (Gary) and step-mother of Ken (Sally) and Marie (predeceased). Doting grandma of Melissa-Mae (Marc), Tyson, Brittany (Jeremy), Jonathon (Kelsey) and step-grandma of Brian, Brent and Brad. Loving great-grandma of Brady, Bosco, Ayla, Magnolia and a new arrival expected in January 2022. Dear sister of Myrtle and Phyllis “Marie”. Predeceased by siblings Leonard, Edith, Alvin, Leland, Elmer, Vera, Norman, Lorne, Florence, Charles and Stella. Predeceased by parents Leslie and Sarah Wood. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Berniece was a talented musician who loved to play the piano and accordion for others. She was a lifelong member of the Big Lake Women’s Institute and the Mindemoya Missionary Church. Berniece was recognized for all of her hard work at the Haven House by receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award, of which she was very proud of. She also worked for many years as a dietary aid at the Mindemoya Hospital. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Mindemoya Cemetery at 11 am.
