Gordon/Barrie Island vehicle speed monitoring sign purchased

GORDON/BARRIE ISLAND – The municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island has now purchased and is in possession of a speed sign that it can gauge the speed of vehicles in any  problem areas of the municipality.

Arran Campbell, roads superintendent for Gordon/Barrie Island told council at a recent meeting that the speed sign is mobile and can be placed in areas where concerns with vehicles possibly speeding has occurred, such as Lighthouse Road.

Reeve Lee Hayden told The Expositor after the meeting, “this sign can be placed on any post and takes a flash reading of a vehicles speed as it passes the sign. We will be able to use the signs to monitor roads where concerns with speeding may have occurred.” He noted the municipality purchased the sign, which is now in use.
