The Manitoulin Husky Hardy Humorous Handsome Has-beens, also known as the Providence Bay Old Timer’s team, had their Horrendously Huge Heart Attack Hockey Feast of pulled pork and crocodile steaks at the Humble and Hospitable Hendricks Hillside Habitat Haven to end their Happy Hockey winter season on March 22. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Now that’s a tongue twister. It doesn’t sound like this a group that should disband. Maybe there will be a reunion next year? Let us know
Wow! “24 Hour Service” Marg Cranston unfortunately took a spell on the ice last Tuesday but was able to contact her daughter Sherri, who drove her to the hospital. The x-rays showed that she had broken her hip and would require surgery. A surgeon in Sudbury hospital explained that the operation could be performed that night, so they rushed Marg over. The surgery went well and she was released and back in the Mindemoya hospital on Wednesday. Now that’s what we in the north call 24 hour service. Glad that everything worked out so well for her and we wish her a speedy recovery.
Well wishes also go out to Eldie Smith, Maria McDermid, Eldridge McCulligh and Terry Hewton.
The maple trees have been running in an exceptional year by all reports.
We hope that last week’s reminder in this column about April Fool’s Day pranks helped stop anyone from being taken too much by surprise, because a few people were certainly caught. The story in the Manitoulin West Recorder about ‘Water over Bridal Veil Falls to be shut down indefinitely’ certainly got a lot of people around here going. Bravo to the prankster.
Welcome back home Laura (nee Oakes) and Miguel. The village is really happy to see lots of folks returning to the community.
Cheryl Sheppard has just returned from a trip to Negril, Jamaica. While there, she enjoyed the sun, sand and surf on 7 Mile Beach. She went to the world renowned Rick’s Café, which is known for it’s nightly local entertainment of divers at sundown. These men were true artists doing numerous flips before landing in the Caribbean Sea. She also went on a trip to the mountains to explore an historic cave with cold spring water pools for the daring.
