MANITOULIN—There are few better ways to explore Manitoulin Island than taking in the 27th Annual Manitoulin Art Tour. This year’s edition runs from July 14 through to July 16, 10 am to 4 pm each day and includes 35 venues all across the Island and features the works of 52 artists.
“We have lots of talented artists and quite a variety,” said organizer Sue Cairns. “There is something for just about everyone. We hope people come and enjoy the show while they enjoy the natural beauty of Manitoulin Island.”
While this year’s Manitoulin Art Tour includes a lot of old favourites there are also several new faces taking part this year, noted Ms. Cairns.
Artists include those working in all styles of paint media, sculptures, jewellery, even a metalwork forge (out in the West End, Meldrum Bay).
Those familiar with the Manitoulin Art Tour know to look for the yellow “Art Tour” signs that guide those taking in the tour to the various venues.
Brochures featuring a map of the various venues can be found at any of the participating venues, or by dropping by each venue will have pamphlets/maps for you to pick up when the Art Tour is on.
There is also a handy map in this week’s Expositor.
The following locations also have maps as of July 1, if you wish to pick up ahead of time: Gore Bay Harbour Centre, in Little Current at the Anchor Inn or the tourist information centre, in Sheguiandah at the Manitoulin Soap Factory, Centennial Museum of Sheguiandah or Ten Mile Point Gallery, in Manitowaning at Wayside Motel, in South Baymouth at the Chi-Cheemaun terminal or museum and at Perivale Gallery in Spring Bay.
