With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Arnold George Lang in Kingston, ON. on February 11, 2024 at the age of 63. Robert was born on April 6, 1960 to Clayton Lang and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Lawson (née Freeman) in East York, Toronto. Robert attended St. Michael’s Choir School from Grade two through High School. He ventured downtown every Sunday to sing in the Cathedral and travelled around the country performing with the Choir. Robert also played on the St. Michael’s Hockey team and held a position on the football team as well. Robert continued singing in the men’s choir at St. Michael’s while studying at U of T – Theology, Languages and Botany. Robert had an exceptionally brilliant mind. He was a compassionate, kind and loving individual who was funny and adventurous. He celebrated all occasions with excitement and enthusiasm, he loved gardening, singing and travelling, but most of all Robert loved his family immensely. He was blessed to grow up in a loving home, visiting with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins in Toronto and the beautiful Manitoulin Island. Predeceased by his dear parents Clayton and Elizabeth and sisters Maureen Heyink, Eileen Smeltzer and Elizabeth Farren. He will be deeply missed by his loving sister Dianne Lang (Todd), brother-in-law Bob Farren and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers. Robert you will remain forever in our hearts. A Mass was held in Robert’s name at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica (65 Bond St., Toronto) on Thursday, April 4, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 112 (117 Byron Street South, Whitby, Ontario) on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Refreshments will be served. For those who would like to donate in Robert’s memory, memorial donations to the Huntington Society of Canada or UHKF (Providence Care) would be appreciated.
